Pradeep Annaiah-trained Ice Of Fire, the Gusto (GB) – Ainra filly owned by Mr. P. Arun Kumar, produced a breathtaking performance to capture the season’s first classic — the Zavaray S. Poonawalla-sponsored Bangalore 1000 Guineas (Gr.2) — under an ice-cool ride from Trevor Patel.
Settled unhurried at the rear, Trevor waited for the right moment before angling Ice Of Fire to the extreme outside on turning for home. From there, the filly unleashed a dazzling, uninterrupted acceleration, sweeping past the front-runners with remarkable ease and storming ahead in the final furlong for a commanding and authoritative victory.
Elysium, always in a handy position, finished on strongly to deny Sunshine the runner-up spot, while Bishop, who tried to make a bold bid after taking charge in the straight, faded late and could only complete the frame.
